Katie Eva Gaj (*1992, Bergisch Gladbach, Germany) is a Cologne-based curator with a 7+ years industry knowledge in art galleries and institutions. She studied art history in Bonn and Rome. Since then, she has accompanied several exhibitions in the field of contemporary art and developed her own lively, playful and fresh vision. Since 2023, she has been independently creating further exhibitions, while constantly asking herself what contemporary art is, what it was and what it will be.
Central to her curatorial practice are a number of recurring motifs and core interests, including a sustained engagement with specific sites and landscapes, and with spaces that become transformed or revitalised through artistic intervention. Her work often seeks to render visible states of transition, for instance, between interior and exterior, thereby exploring the porous boundaries between these realms. Furthermore, she places particular emphasis on fostering networks among artists at both regional and international levels, facilitating dialogue and exchange across diverse artistic contexts.
