With the second edition of WeGetCloser, artists find a place in the listed Stoff-Pavillon Köln that allows artistic interventions in situ, in vitro, in planta, to grow together with the architectural organism of the 1950s glass landmark.
In this interdisciplinary and intercultural exhibition, we encounter artists and their works - from performance, sculpture, painting, digital art and installation to works that oscillate between all these media. The artists Carolin Eidner, Roy Mordechay, Sarah Kürten, Mounir Ayache, Ilka Helmig, Sarah Kürten, Oliver-Selim Boualam, Klaus Kleine and Gesine Grundmann meet in the idea of dialogue, whether out of their practice or through their simultaneous presence in the exhibition space. As part of an ongoing series, WeGetCloser 2 marks a processual continuation of the curatorial concept that began with the debut at the Fahrbereitschaft Berlin (2024) and complements the field of participatory and site-specific practices. The format functions less as a fixed structure and more as a space of possibility, focussing on collective proximity, processual synergy and situational presence. A fourth practice is thus articulated in the course of the exhibition, which extends beyond the familiar modes in situ, in vitro, in planta: in tuto - a state in which the work exists not only in the space, but with it, through it and as part of a larger context.
