From early January 2026, the iconic Colonia-Haus in Cologne-Riehl will become a venue for contemporary art. On the 29th floor, art enters into dialogue with residential architecture.
Colonia-Haus is regarded as one of Cologne’s most distinctive buildings. When completed in 1973, it was the tallest residential tower in Europe and continues to shape the city’s skyline to this day. With this new exhibition project, the historically charged site is now being reactivated in a cultural register.
The exhibition positions itself as a dialogic embedding of contemporary art within the architectural and social context of dwelling. A space ordinarily reserved for private life becomes, for a limited time, a public resonance chamber for art.
