With its third edition, WeGetCloser continues to explore the relationships between artistic practices, spatial conditions, as well as the possibilities of encounter. Taking place in the former premises of an architectural office in Frankfurt am Main, the exhibition brings together artistic positions that respond to the particular characteristics of the site, allowing new connections to emerge between individual works and their surroundings.
The existing architecture, with its traces of previous use, functional structures, and intersecting sightlines, provides a framework for the exhibition without becoming its central subject. Existing works enter into dialogue with site-specific interventions, while the spaces and distances between them become an integral part of the exhibition.
Once again, the exhibition unfolds through the movement of its visitors. As perspectives shift and new visual relationships emerge, the perception of individual works changes in relation to their surroundings and to one another. What appears separate from one viewpoint may become connected from another, revealing relationships that are neither fixed nor immediately apparent.
Building on the curatorial approach of its previous editions, WeGetCloser 3 approaches the exhibition as a dynamic constellation in which artistic positions retain their individual character while becoming part of a larger dialogue. Proximity is understood not simply as physical closeness, but as a condition shaped by movement, perception, and the encounters that take place between works, space, and viewers.
